The public school system today is falling apart.  Some schools literally are very old buildings that are desperately in need of repair to properly serve the children trying to learn inside.  In most situations, though, the falling apart is figurative.  The system is outdated, rooted in teachers with tenure, unions, old buildings and limited technology.  There are three primary players in getting the system fixed and up-to-date with the fast-paced world in which we live.  These players are students, teachers and parents.  Each one has a voice and should speak out for a revamp of the system. We want to know that our students are receiving the best schooling possible and that the environment that we are sending them off into is nurturing and positive. What education should be is a chance for people to become independent, critical thinkers with the ability to discern new answers for themselves instead of passively accepting what currently exists.  This should happen by giving children the skills and intellect they need to grasp how the world works and how they can survive in it.  Unfortunately, the United States educational system is full of problems and currently not delivering such intellectual minds into the world. No system is perfect.  Unfortunately, the United States educational system is far from it.  One of the biggest problems today is the huge focus on test scores and grades.  Policy makers are obsessed with getting the US at the top of international test rankings.  The preoccupation of achieving high test scores has been placed under a different name: “student achievement.”  Educators are always talking about increasing levels of student achievement, but all they mean is they are pursuing higher test scores. WHAT SHALL I DO Teachers Who Bully Students

Traditionally, the topic that revolves around bullying is when one child picks on another who is smaller or weaker than they are.  Bullying is all about power and aggressors are usually attempting to make their status known to everyone.  The issue of teachers screaming, threatening and using biting sarcasm to embarrass a student in a class is not a new problem, but it receives little attention.  After all, teachers are the commanders of the classroom and what they say goes.  If a child becomes the victim of teacher bullying, most of the time they either will not say anything to their parents or when they do, parents are insensitive to the magnitude of the situation.
